CELEBRITY BATHROOM
We caught the very busy VJ-actress Hilarie Burton
at the MTV Studio bathroom in NYC right after she flew in from North Carolina.
And, boy, were her arms tired! (Sorry....)
ELLEgirl: So, on TRL you have straight hair, and on One Tree Hill you have
curly hair. What gives?
Hilarie Burton: My hair is naturally tight and curly. If you watch the first
episodes of One Tree Hill, it's really curly, but we've loosened it up since. I
straighten my hair out of sheer laziness, because then I don't have to wash it.
Recently, I got bangs for the first time, and I don't know what to do with them!
I gotta figure them out.
EG: Would you ever consider
getting your hair permanently straightened?
HB: No. I like versatility, and maybe that's part of being young and fickle,
but I'm into wearing my hair curly in the morning and straight at night.
EG: You recently moved into your house in Wilmington, NC, where you film One
Tree Hill. How are you going to decorate your bathroom?
HB: It's an old house, from 1880, so I'm going to renovate it. All I really
want is a Jacuzzi and an old dresser with a sink built into it. I bought these
really soft white towels that are made from beech trees. They only sell them at
Bed Bath & Beyond.
EG: You travel a lot. What are the essentials in your makeup bag?
HB: I'm a sucker for mascara-I love it! I want to try the Lancome Hypnose
mascara, but it doesn't come in waterproof yet, and I only use waterproof
because my eyes water a lot from my contacts. Right now, I'm using a L'Oreal
mascara. I use Neutrogena concealer, because I like the felty tip-it feels like
you're coloring your face with a marker. The thing I'm pretty into right
now-like, this week- is this Lip Venom Sheer Lipstick. I like the way it stings.
EG: You grew up with three younger brothers. How was sharing the bathroom
with stinky boys?
HB: Well, they were filthy. They always blamed me for the bathroom being
dirty. When we moved to another house, I had my own bathroom, but their bathroom
was still dirty! I had been cleaning up after them for all those years.
EG: Besides TRL and One Tree Hill, do you have any projects coming up?
HB: I did an indie movie called Our Very Own [due out later this year]. I
play the firecracker, Bobbie Chester, which was a nice change from playing moody
Peyton Sawyer [on One Tree Hill].
EG: Of course, we have to ask you-over or under with the toilet paper roll?
HB: Over! I hate the Under. Why reach further for it than you have to?
